My paper flower story began six years ago while coordinating a wedding. The bride asked if I could also create a paper flower bouquet. When I reflected on it afterwards, I realized that the best part for me was creating the paper flowers, and I thought, Could I turn this into a business?

When I started out, I thought my focus would continue to be weddings and special events, with personal custom orders rounding things out. However, as my business grew, there were other opportunities that allowed me to showcase my work. I discovered that I loved doing large commercial installations with national brands like Nordstroms, Frans Chocolate, Jo Malone, and many others, and more importantly, I found a huge love in helping other entrepreneurs build their business.

Jessie Chui is an artist, educator, lawyer and the author of the best-seller, Paper Flower Art, Create Beautifully Realistic Floral Arrangements (GMC Publications, 2019), plus the co-founder of The Paper Florist Facebook Group. She is known for her intricate paper floral composition and unique use of colour in her paper art. Jessie began exploring the art of paper flowers in 2015. After a 7-year legal career, she quit her practice in 2016 to focus on being a mother. While her baby napped, she turned to paper flowers to stay creative. Her work attracted a lot of attention early on and it motivated her to formally establish Crafted to Bloom in 2016. Within two years, she firmly established herself as a leading paper flower artist with a book deal and numerous workshops under her belt. She has been featured on 100 Layer CakeGreen Wedding ShoesLia Griffith's Artist Interview SeriesWedLuxeHolt Renfrew’s Holiday MagazineBreathe Magazine, and the Botanical Brouhaha podcast, to name a few. She offers online courses, and also teaches private classes and instructs group workshops in the Greater Toronto Area and abroad. In addition to teaching, Jessie creates bespoke pieces for clients - from single stem pieces to large compositions. Some of her clients include brides, artistic directors, graphic designers, event coordinators, other artists, flower lovers. Jessie resides in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, with her husband, a 4-year old and a baby.

Margie Keates is the owner of The Lovely Ave and has been a Paper Florist since 2015. What started as a way to save money for her wedding turned into a love for a craft that would quickly become her passion. She began teaching herself by buying real flowers, taking them apart, and posting innocently on Instagram. This leap of faith snowballed into designing a website, quitting her day job, and starting a new journey with an old but beautiful art form. Solidifying her artistic style and focusing on clear and concise branding, she has built a business that is recognized all over the world.

Since 2015 The Lovely Ave has been featured in multiple magazines, including being listed as Country Living's Top 100 Most Creative People, as well as being featured by multiple online blogs like Design Sponge and Magnolia Rouge. The Lovely Ave creates realistic looking paper flowers  in their downtown Salt Lake City studio where they focus on home decor, meaningful gifts, and fine art pieces.
